Goichi joined the KIPB team in 1996.
He holds degrees from Waseda University and also Tokyo University of Science (Faculty of Engineering.) He registered as a patent attorney in 2002 and then served as our vice president until our founder, Meiko Kashiwabara, stepped aside to become chairwoman in 2011. Elected as senior and managing partner thereafter, Goichi continues to build on our earlier successes.
Goichi has over 25 years of experience working in the IP sector. He has filed several hundred applications in Japan and overseas. His practice encompasses all facets of IP work related to electrical and mechanical engineering, information technologies, telecommunications and software. He is also well versed in drafting and negotiating licensing agreements, often during contentious proceedings, and has successfully prosecuted many oppositions, revocations and invalidity trials. He regularly contributes to domestic and global IP seminars and is currently a member of both AIPPA and APAA.
Goichi lived in Paris as a child with his family. He was a very adept alpine skier in his youth, representing his high school and university teams. He currently lives along a beautiful stretch of coastline in Kamakura, an old city with many historical shrines and temples about an hour’s train ride from Tokyo.
