KIPB Japan at INTA´s 2023 Annual Meeting in Singapore

From May 16 to 20, 2023, the International Trademark Association (INTA) will hold their Annual Meeting Live+ in Singapore.  Members of the KIPB team will be in attendance on-site, in addition to numerous other companies, law firms and over 7000 participants from around the globe. 


We will be represented in Singapore by our Senior Vice President and head of Trademarks, Masahito Shibata, and our lead on international client accounts and business development, Steve Denney.

Applicants can now request a resumption of examination of a divisional application that has been suspended during the appeal examination of the parent application.

In accordance with the rules introduced last year, applicants may request the temporary suspension of the examination of a divisional application until the result of an appeal for the parent application. This has made it more efficient for examiners to examine divisional applications with reference to the appeal results and enabled applicants to refine their divisional claim strategies based on the outcome of the appeal. The Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) will hold their Annual Meeting in Singapore, from Nov. 3-7, 2023. KIPB will be represented on-site by Goichi Takahashi, Yoshiaki Kishizawa and Steve Denney.

The JPO to serve official documents to some rights holders residing overseas by publication in the online patent gazette rather than by international mail.
